We pride ourselves on being completely upfront and open with all of our sales clients. 

As a standalone service within the furniture industry we offer a leading approach to all of our sales. 

In the infancy of The Designer Furniture company, we noticed a huge gap in the market. Where can you sell high end, second hand designer furniture at the cost it deserved? Not on an auction based platform for minimum return and maximum effort.

And so…The Designer Furniture Company’s selling service began. 

What can you expect from us?

What do you expect from me?

Transparency, patience and a level of trust.

We Collect (for Free), Insure (up to £300,000), Store (with no time limits), Sell (on over 7 specialist portal/platforms, with knowledge & customer following), Pack (professionally Packed) and Deliver (specialist logistic team) your items as part of our commission with no time limits, hidden fees or additional costs.

We value your time and space and give you a completely hassle free return on all your used designer furniture pieces.
We are a specialist service with a specialist team and you do not have to lift a finger.

Important things to consider when using our service –

  • Please do not have unrealistic expectations when selling your used furniture. We have had years of experience and much like a car that loses thousands when it drives off the forecourt, your furniture is worth considerably less than when you purchased it new. However, IT IS worth more than you will get on an auction site. So thankfully, there is a company like us, who know how to market and package it like a brand new product. Our service is completely unique, and we deal with many customer inquiries and questions, viewings and low offers.
    ● We do not offer cash payments.
    ● We do not guarantee sales. We endeavour to sell every single item that enters our showroom, but the used furniture market fluctuates and patience can be one factor to finding the right buyer. Remember, it is in our interest to sell you item as much as it is yours.
    ● We do not always sell for the highest valuation, we sell it for any amount within the given valuation. We are not a storage company, we are a hassle free service to take the copious amounts of admin away from selling privately. We manage the ‘time-wasters’. Your only communication will be with us.
    ● We do not collect as and when we feel like it. We offer the very best collection service within the business with the best furniture removal specialists. Second best is not an option for us. We do not require any help.
    ● We are not a clearance company. We are a white glove service that sells high end luxury and designer furniture. We do not take items that need repairing or reupholstering.
    ● You do not have to use our service. We sell your furniture for you for a commission.
    ● In a disposable society, we work for a more sustainable world. Giving our clients a return from a company who could compete with the very best furniture companies in the country, but we choose to sell used furniture.
    ● We DO everything for you. Our service includes the collection, storage, packaging, delivery and we insure your item/s.
    ● We DO offer a world class collection and delivery service and would put all removal firms to shame.
    ● We DO enjoy what we do and do NOT make it a horrible experience. Our service is as we would expect it from someone else. No time wasters, no bartering, no nonsense. We handle all of that, so you don’t have to.

How long does it take to sell my items?

How long is a piece of string? We do everything we can to ensure your item is sold. Remember, we have a vested interest in your item(s) being sold too! Ensuring that someone has the exact gap for your sofa, or the right space for your light or the ‘look’ for your cupboard can take time. It is less about speed and more about finding the right buyer. For minimum input, we ensure maximum output. This involves your trust in us. 

Our 50% Explained

 

For example, if we sell a sideboard for £1,000, we pay you 50% = £500.

From our (50%) £500 we pay for everything.

On average it costs £200 per item for collection, packaging, storage and delivery costs.

10-20% portal commissions = £100-£200.

Total costs (excluding anomalies such as marketing and collection/delivery insurance) = £300-£400.

Our profit = £100-200 (on average 20%)

Althought the breakdown is 50/50, we really do cover the cost of everything else for you! 

Example A

  1. Client approched with 3 items for valuation. 
  2. Valuation was sent within 72 hours, client agreed to valuation & signed contract. 
  3. Within 28 days, collection was made from North London to return to East Sussex.
  4. Within 7 days TDFC photographed, videoed and wrote descriptions of the items. An email was sent to a captured buyer list and the items were then listed on 7 platforms. 
  5. Within 2 weeks, 1 of the 3 items was sold. Item 1 delivered to Surrey.
  6. Within 5 weeks, the 2 other items were sold to the same buyer, items delivered to Wales. 

Listing fees, delivery, packaging, insurance and admin ALL covered by TDFC. 

Customer return – £3000 

Example B

  1. Client approched with 1 item for valuation. Had previously listed on auction platform for £300. Had issues with consistent ‘time-wasters’. Client was moving and required the space.
  2. Valuation was sent within 72 hours, client agreed to valuation & signed contract.
  3. Within 28 days, collection was made from Surrey to return to East Sussex.
  4. Within 7 days TDFC photographed, videoed and wrote descriptions of the items. An email was sent to a captured buyer list and the item was then listed on 7 platforms.
  5. Within 6 months, the item was sold. Delivered to Central London.

Listing fees, delivery, packaging, insurance and admin ALL covered by TDFC. 

Customer return – £950
