Delivery, Returns & Storage

STANDARD DELIVERY IS FREE FOR ALL OUR PRODUCTS!

At The Designer Furniture Company we do not believe in customers having to pay extra on top of their purchases for standard delivery. In fact when formulating our business from the very infancy, it was one of the main aims. 

That is why we decided to offer all of our products with free standard delivery to UK Mainland addresses* with the option to upgrade to PREMIUM DELIVERY.

STORAGE

We understand that with items as exclusive as ours, sometimes you need to purchase in advance of the time you need your items to arrive. Therefor we offer FREE 90 days storage with all purchases. However, we have had numerous requests to extend this period of time. As of the beginning of 2024, we now offer additional storage time at £50 per month, per item. Paid in advance. Please note, this is a first come first served service which MUST be pre-arranged and is offered at as a pre payment service. Please note – Additional storage is not available on discount/sale items.

PREMIUM DELIVERY

Effective from the beginning of 2024, in response to customer requests, a premium delivery option has been introduced alongside our existing free delivery service. This supplementary service is available for a nominal fee. Opting for this premium option ensures delivery within 5 working days, half the time of our standard free delivery.

Smaller Item Deliveries
Our smaller items are generally sent via notable couriers such as FedEx etc. Most offer a tracking service and an ETA of arrival given. We will of course share this information where applicable with you. Please leave a contactable mobile phone number to ensure the couriers can contact you via phone call or text to arrange delivery where possible. Should you have a preference for a specific courier then please feel free to contact us. 

Larger Item Deliveries
For larger item deliveries, we use trusted third party logistics companies who specialise in large, luxury, designer bulky item deliveries. We usually aim to have stock items delivered to you within the time frame of 10 working days.

Although many of our items are in stock and available for immediate dispatch, we also will only use specialist couriers who are experienced in transportation of luxury goods, therefore this can cause an occasional delay. Our pieces are ‘one off’ and we would only wish to deliver to you in the condition in which they are sold.  Delays in this instance will be fully communicated and if you require a more specific time frame, please feel free to contact us before placing your order.

For larger, heavier items, customer assistance may be required to help the driver. Delivery is strictly to ground floor only for insurance purposes.

Occasionally, with prior communication we would be able to accommodate more complex deliveries for example stairs etc. However we would be entirely reliant on the fact you would have pre-measured your property to ensure that the goods you have purchased will fit in the space you have allocated. In the instance that the item does not fit, a return delivery cost would apply. 

IMPORTANT –

Please note: it is the customer’s responsibility to check that any orders will fit through doorways, stairwells and staircases. If you are in any doubt, please talk to our team prior to delivery who will advise. A delivery charge will be applied should our delivery drivers need to return an item or require more specialist equipment than the standard two-man crew.

International Delivery

We use FedEx for smaller items which are wrapped accordingly and fully insured. 

For lager items we use specialist couriers who are highly experienced in luxury goods. These are wrapped accordingly and fully insured.

Returns

Free returns only apply if the item doesn’t match the condition report or is damaged. You will be liable for return costs and fees if you change your mind.

Upon the receipt of goods, please check the items thoroughly before the delivery driver departs, to allow easy return in the very rare event of damage. If you do not manage to check goods upon delivery, we allow 24 hours after signing for goods for damages to be reported to us – claims for damages outside this period will be rejected. It is the buyer’s responsibility to check and ensure the items are in good condition. We take full responsibility for any damage found during inspection only upon delivery.

Mandatory re-stocking fees, determined at TDFC’s discretion, ranging from 20% to 40% of the item’s value, apply to returns not falling under the ‘not as described’ terms.

Our logistics team will contact you to advise a delivery date and in the majority of cases, delivery can include an estimated time slot 24hrs in advance of the given delivery day. You will be informed by email and or text message. Deliveries are only available during Monday-Friday unless in special circumstances. This will need to be requested in writing. Where we can, we will arrange a weekend delivery at an additional cost.

Please make sure you as the named buyer can be available to receive the delivery of your item, or input an address for delivery where someone can be present. Our delivery drivers reserve the right to request ID when deemed necessary. 

Please inform us if you are going to be unavailable on the proposed delivery date, and we will endeavour to arrange a suitable alternative. Failed deliveries that have been confirmed will result in re-delivery/cancellation charges. Late cancellation of any delivery, where the item has been dispatched will incur a charge to return the items to us. 

Once a delivery slot is confirmed by the buyer, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure they will be available to receive the goods, otherwise a re-delivery charge will apply.

It is the customer’s responsibility to move any pets and children out of harms’ way during the delivery for safety reasons. 

*Please note delivery to Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scottish Highlands, Islands and Channel Islands are not included within our free delivery service. Please contact us for a quotation. 

Note that Scottish deliveries may take slightly longer than the lead times quoted for standard delivery routes. For a more accurate timescale, please contact us.
